How to Regain Ownership of Your Facebook Page and Business Manager
Facebook is an amazing platform that can help you connect with your community, grow your patient base, and share important messages about your practice. But sometimes it can be tricky to troubleshoot, especially if you’re struggling to regain ownership of your practice page and Business Manager.
Facebook is an amazing platform that can help you connect with your community, grow your patient base, and share important messages about your practice. But sometimes it can be tricky to troubleshoot, especially if you’re struggling to regain ownership of your practice page and Business Manager.
So you’ve tried everything from contacting the previous page owner (or marketing agency) to submitting an Admin Dispute Request to Facebook, but nothing is working. You’re ready to let go of your current page, start fresh, or even do away with Facebook altogether.
Don’t give up hope just yet! We’ve found a way to regain ownership of your Facebook page and Business Manager in just 3 simple steps.
Step 1: Gather Your Documents
1. Find a copy of a valid government-issued photo ID (such as a current driver's license or a passport). You can find the different kinds of IDs Facebook accepts in the Help Center.
2. Draft a signed statement with the following information:
- A description of your relationship to the Page (including your authority to request a change in the person(s) who manage the Page, as applicable).
- The name of the current person(s) who manage the Page, as applicable.
- The relationship of the above person(s) to the Page.
- An explanation of your request, and whether there has been a termination of the employment and/or business relationship with the named person(s), as applicable.
- All documentation supporting your request.
- The Facebook account or email address associated with the Facebook account that you wish to have added as the new admin of the Page.
- A declaration that the information you have provided is true and accurate (i.e.: "I certify that the information provided is true and accurate"). Your statement must include similar language.
- The amount of the past three invoices on the ad account(s) that the Business owns, plus the last 4 digits on the credit card and its expiration date.
Step 2: Contact Facebook Directly
You can reach a Facebook representative via Facebook Messenger from their Support Page.
Once you get to the page, select your page from the list.
When asked to pick an issue, select I’ve lost access to my Page. You may need to click Load More if you don’t see the option.
On the next page, confirm your email address and your cell phone number. In the box under Please provide information that will help us investigate, write exactly how you lost access to your Facebook page or Business Manager.
Here’s an example: “My previous agency created my page but did not give us ownership. We no longer work with the agency and lost access to our Page (or Business Manager).”
Once you have briefly described the issue, Hit Select File and include all of the documentation you gathered. Next, click Start Chat to begin your conversation with a Facebook representative.
Step 3: Let Facebook Fix It
Your Facebook representative will provide any further instructions to help you regain control of your practice page. They’ll also let you know when you can expect to regain ownership. Every case is different, so it’s important to be patient. Some issues take 4 months to resolve, but most are fixed within 72 hours. Your representative will send out a follow-up email regarding your case details so you can keep track of your case as it progresses.
